CBD's Health Benefits

CBD's Health Benefits

June 12, 2018

Scientific research is looking into the different health benefits of CBD or cannabidiol. CBD is a marijuana component but it doesn’t produce psychoactive effects which made marijuana popular for recreational use.

Here are some of the potential health benefits of CBD.

Analgesic

CBD can bind to the body’s CB1 receptors for pain relief. CBD may also have anti-inflammatory effect which can reduce swelling.

Digestive aid

To have a healthy body, it is a must to have a healthy appetite, especially while the body heals. There are illnesses that can reduce the appetite to the extent that the body is prevented from healing itself. CBD may help stimulate appetite. CBD can bind with the body’s cannabinoid receptors. Scientists believe such receptors play a crucial role in regulating a person’s feeding behavior. CBD may stimulate appetite once they dock on the receptors.

CBD may also ease vomiting and nausea. It could help people who are going through chemotherapy and other forms of treatments for different serious diseases.

Anxiety relief

Cannabidiol may also help reduce severe social anxiety. Generalized Social Anxiety Disorder is among the most common types of anxiety disorders which can impair a person’s quality of life. There are consumers who complain about increased social anxiety after using marijuana but it could be because of low CBD levels proportionate to higher THC levels.

A study conducted revealed that people who were administered with CBD experienced reduced speech performance discomfort, cognitive impairment, and anxiety. On the other hand, those who belong to the placebo group have experienced higher discomfort, cognitive impairment, and anxiety.

About 15 million adults in the US alone suffer from social phobia, while around 6.8 million suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. The traditional treatment often involves medications and counseling. Treatment using CBD may be a good alternative to anti-depressants since it can act quickly and doesn’t cause withdrawal symptoms or side effects.

Acne

Treatment of acne is yet another potential health benefit of CBD. In part, the condition is the result of overworked and inflammation of the body’s sebaceous glands. CBD may help lower sebum production that can lead to acne, partly due to its anti-inflammatory effect.
